Statement of Purpose

WECR exists to provide the campus community a center of information and entertainment, with a dedication of bringing unity to the campus as a whole. This is achieved through giving the student body the opportunity to hear the type of entertainment that it desires and to give all campus organizations as well as outside organizations of interest to the student body the opportunity to have their messages communicated through the medium of college radio. By providing a common conduit through which information and entertainment may be spread, WECR hopes to serve in unifying the campus community at large

WECR strives to serve the student body on a variety of levels. As students must be given the option for growth in the context of a Christian institution such as Eastern, so too the radio station is structured in its format and operation to allow students the flexibility to learn more about radio in genera, and more specifically, to learn how their faith may be evidenced in their works with the station. It is with spiritual and emotional growth in mind that the format of the station’s playlists and rotations in not dictated exclusively by one particular view of the Christian faith. WECR allows for diversity in its programming within the limits of not only the FCC guidelines, but also the community standards and sensibilities of Eastern College. WECR is committed to glorify God in all that it does.

WECR hopes to be a vital part of the growing Communications Department at Eastern College. WE hope to be one of the key communicative links to the campus community at large and as such strives each day to reflect u[pon its course and take corrective action at the earliest possibility. With these goals in mind, WECR accepts volunteer employees to work in all fields related to radio station operations and encourages students to stretch the limits of their creativity in serving fellow students.

Broadcast Information
WECR is Easter College Radio
(aka Where Eastern College Rocks)

WECR-AM currently operates at at frequency of 1,410 khz, under the carrier current rules of the Federal Communications Commission. These rules say that the signal should be confined to the campus. WECR operates with a transmitter power output of 15 watts. During the night time hours when the skywaves of other AM stations interfere with our signal, this wattage is necessary to maintain a clear signal on campus. During daylight hours when the ionosphere absorbs the skywaves of other stations, WECR's signal has a slightly larger radius with the fringe including the towns of Wayne, Bryn Mawr, and King of Prussia (out to the King of Prussia Mall). WECR's Transmitter and tower are located on the roof of the Warner Library, and the studio is located in the basement of Kea Hall.
