President's Corner
So this is it. I'm finally done (please don't get
too excited!). I wanted to take a minute to recap what SGA did this
past year. We passed recommendations, and had them approved by the
administration!, on the following issues:
- establishment of a commuter lounge (now with a computer and
internet access!)
- a service to be held on Sept. 11th of 2004
- Wednesday night visitation hours during the summer (summer
residents ... this goes
into effect for you this summer!!)
- additions to the APT Living changes by the Administration
- coin machines on-campus (four machines will be placed
on-campus within the 2004-2005 school year)
- extending library hours (a trial period for this will occur at the beginning
of the Fall 2004 semester)
- improving the weight room
We wrote recommendations, that are pending before the
administration, on the following issues:
- the grading scale (while the full recommendation failed, faculty is now
discussing changing some curriculum in the
core requirements to make the classes more equivalent for grading)
- changing the return date from Tuesday to Monday (look for this issue to
re-emerge next year!)
- visitation hours on holidays and days classes are cancelled (the Resident Life
Staff and Administration are still in
dialogue over this issue)
With all of these things, we also had another
successful year of open forums, class projects, Mr. Eastern, and the Film &
Pizza Fest ... God was faithful - as always. For Student Government's end
of the year gift to the students, we will be donating money to improving the
weight room. Look for new equipment in the Fall of 2004!
On a personal note, I loved working with SGA. While I was
extremely busy, it was a blessing to serve as your Student Body President.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do so. I know you all have
papers to write and finals to study for, so I won't make this long. To sum
it up short and sweet .. thanks, it's been awesome.
Faithfully,
Lindsey M. Eib
