Jon:        Justin McRoberts concert will be Thursday at 9pm

                Need to volunteer to check e-cards at the door – Peter

                Will meet with Finance Committee this week

Betsy:    today we will be bringing before you the revised constitution of the College Republicans

needs to meet with the Rules Committee

Janine:  missed office hours last week – Nate, Jerusha

                Need to reschedule office hours – Jerusha, Lori, Alison

                Office hours are not optional, they should only be missed in cases of illness or doctor’s appt.

                Need to meet with new members for office orientation

Lindsey: met with Bettie Ann regarding questions about commuter email

                                Housing is still guaranteed for those who study abroad

                                Email was just restating the policy that is already in effect

                APT living recommendation – there will be 4 female and 3 male apartments

                Administration will be discussing visitation on days classes are cancelled with Residence Life staff

                Summer visitation recommendation – administration has said no

                                Visiting hours are uniform throughout the school year and summer

Board of Trustees luncheon went well, will be meeting with Dr. Black’s secretary to discuss how it could be improved for next year

Attended Board of Trustees meeting on Friday

                New library will be named after Dr. Howard

Will be meeting with David King and Joe Modica this week

Nate (Junior Class): meeting on Wednesday at 10

                                Any ideas for pizza/film fest or about weightroom please let them know

Nomination of Commuter Senator – Domenick Rowe

1 minute of questioning

                always has enjoyed SGA, feels as if he could represent commuters well

Mark O. moved to accept the nomination of Domenick Rowe as Commuter Senator

Adam seconded

                + knows what he’s doing, will do a good job

                + good guy, very responsible, really wants to step up in SGA, very impressive

Request for funds for Mentoring Elijah – Lola

                Money would be used to pay for cost of trip for mentors

3 minutes of questioning

                had one fundraiser, but didn’t raise enough

                $240 is the total cost of the trip

                only raised $20

                there are 6 children

                will pay the mentee half out of their own pockets

                good reason to give money, but concerned with giving out $240 to only 6 students

                our budget is about $3000 less than it was at this time last year

                lot of money for 6 students, but did make an attempt to fundraise and are willing to pay a part of it

                students will pay half

                Total needed is $480 – asking SGA for $240, other $240 will be paid by them

                Prices are based on “group rates”

Nate moved to allot $120 to Mentoring Elijah

                + quality thing, but a lot of money; $120 is nice gift

                - if we’re going to give them money we should give them the full amount

                + worthy cause, but group should’ve exercised more options

Mark H. moved to amend motion to allot Mentoring Elijah $180

Keila seconded

                + won’t give full amount, but asking them to pay part of it may be an incentive to do more fundraising in the future

                - give them full amount

                + consider they are paying for kids too

- should give them full amount, we gave Transformed! money; would hate to deny kids the trip just so we could have enough money for pizza

Activation and Constitutional Changes for the College Republicans – moved to next week

 

Executive Board Request for Funds - $120

Money is for lodging and food for Justin McRoberts and his wife

Student Development covered cost of performance - $900

Concert will be free for Eastern Community

                money made from concert will go towards either Student Development, SAB or SGA

                event is for entire student body

                SAB is giving $100

                We have a responsibility to at least match what SAB is giving

                + good idea, no reason not to

                - almost as much money as we gave to mentoring kids just so we can have fun

                + open to every student, will help promote student body as a whole
