Reports

Jon:        budget is at around $5000

                Student Development helped us sponsor a Justin McRoberts concert on Feb. 12 at 7pm

                                Will be needing a lot of help from SGA

                Meeting with Finance Committee this week

Betsy:    Rules Committee meeting this week

Janine:  several people missed office hours this week!

Dustin:  received an email from Erin on potential Constituent Based Topice

                Needs to meet with Communications Committee after the meeting

Lindsey: met with Provost Fraser

                                Completed Dean interviews, will be hiring by the end of February

                Meeting with Dr. Black was canceled due to snow

                Meeting with Bettie Ann Brigham and the Waltonian this week

Mark O. (Senior Class): finalizing Constituent Based Topic

Laura (Comment Form Director):  received emails regarding a convenience store on campus and wireless network

Domenick (Academic Team): absent, no report

Elijah (Educational Policy & Curriculum Team): discussed proposal from Sociology Department, non-western core and the

Witherspoon Fellowship

Swearing In of New Members

Jon Jezorski was sworn in as Junior Class Representative

Jerusha Guelzo was sworn in as Junior Class Representative

Mara Irvin was sworn in as Senior Class Representative

 

Cabinet Recommendation on Visitation Hours on Holidays and Days Classes Are Canceled

                +  self-explanatory, straight-forward, much needed

                +  when classes are canceled it would be nice to have extended hours

Cabinet Recommendation on Coin Machines on Campus

Good for students who don’t have cars on campus

Plant Ops was very supportive

2 minutes questioning

                will be in Walton for security reasons

1 minute preliminary debate

                good idea, concern for past several years

                we need at least one coin machine on campus

                there is a coin machine in Doane – it doesn’t work

Mark H. moved to accept the motion

                great idea, especially for those who can’t get quarters

Exercise Science Student Association – presented by Jess Leighton (To be accepted as active/eligible)

Exercise Science is the second largest major at Eastern

they do not have a club

Would prepare students for grad school

3 minutes questioning

                would train student more for exercise testing

                money raised could be used to attend conferences and become members of associations

                Seth Paradis is the current faculty advisor

`               there would be a lot of interest

2 minutes preliminary debate

                good club, open to everyone

                would probably be a lot of interest

Laura moved to accept the Exercise Science Student Association as active/eligible

                +  seems like a good idea
